Your privacy is important to us. It is The Nurse Academy’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our learning portal, https://lms.thenurseacademy.com. This page explains what we collect on the portal, why we collect it, and how it is handled. It works alongside the privacy policy for our main website, which you can read at thenurseacademy.com/privacy-policy.
We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent, and we let you know why we are collecting it and how it will be used.
Your account. Your name, email address, and profile details such as a photo, cover image, and any information you choose to add to your profile.
Learning records. Your course enrollments, lesson and quiz progress, scores and grades, attendance check-ins, and certificates you earn. We keep these so we can track your progress through the program and issue the records you need.
Community activity. Posts, comments, reactions, messages, group discussions, survey responses, and any photos, videos, or documents you upload to the portal.
Technical data. Cookies that keep you signed in and remember preferences such as your display theme, along with basic log information that helps us keep the portal fast and secure.
We use this information to run your courses, track completion of program requirements, issue grades and certificates, operate the community features on the portal, manage class and work schedules, send notifications related to your program, and keep the site secure. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
The portal is a community for our students, faculty, and staff. Content you share, such as activity posts, group discussions, and your profile, is visible to other members according to the visibility settings on each feature. Faculty and staff can see the academic records they need to do their jobs, such as grades, attendance, and course progress.
Like most modern platforms, we use a small number of trusted providers to help run the portal, and some of your information passes through them so they can do their jobs.
Email delivery. Notifications and program emails are delivered through Amazon Simple Email Service.
Video streaming. Course and lecture videos are hosted and streamed by Gumlet.
Google services. Some academic records, such as grades and attendance, are maintained using Google Sheets and related Google services.
Originality checking. Assignments you upload in some courses are checked for originality using Quetext, a plagiarism detection service. Only the text of your file is sent, without your name or contact details, and we delete the report from Quetext when the check completes, so your work is not retained there. The similarity result helps you revise your work and helps faculty review it; it never affects your grade on its own.
Media and performance. Images may be optimized and served through QUIC.cloud to keep pages fast.
Live sessions. If your cohort uses live online sessions, those run through Zoom.
Security. We use security monitoring services such as Patchstack to protect the portal against attacks.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy, and we only share what is needed for them to provide their service.
We retain your academic records for as long as necessary to meet program, certification, and legal record-keeping requirements. Community content such as posts and uploads stays on the portal until you remove it or your account is closed. What data we store, we will protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
We don’t share any personally identifying information publicly or with third parties, except with the service providers described above, when you ask us to (for example, sending a transcript on your behalf), or when required to by law.
You can view and update your profile information at any time from your account settings. If you would like a copy of the information we hold about you, want something corrected, or want your account removed, contact us and we will help. Keep in mind that we may need to retain certain academic records even after an account is closed, where record-keeping rules require it.
You are free to refuse our request for your personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services.
Our portal may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy policies.
